The mission of the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) is to combine the science of growing turf grass with the art of maintaining sport fields to produce safe, playable, and aesthetically pleasing sport fields. In addition, the STMA is to be the recognized leader in the
sports turf industry, enhance member competence and increase acknowledgement of their
professionalism. As the organization representing the individuals who care for and
maintain sport fields at all levels of competition, the STMA is an important and
valuable contributor to the sports world.
Promoting the work of the STMA gives external audiences a greater understanding of the
efforts required to properly manage turf playing surfaces. It also helps underscore the
value of turf maintenance programs to protect competitors from injury and how these
programs encourage fair and equal playing conditions. Promoting the STMA benefits its
membership by raising awareness of the industry, improving the professional reputations
of members, positively influencing employers and reinforcing the organization’s
leadership role. As and Affiliated Chapter of the STMA we support the goals of our parent organization.
The Intermountain Chapter of the STMA will accomplish these goals by fostering a network of peers who are willing to share their best practices. Provide educational opportunities through our website, our Field Day activities, and our Adopt a Field Program. To provide quick access to information and resources to help our members save time and money. Provide opportunities to participate in volunteer leadership positions within our chapter.
